Why Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a gentle, benign path to relaxation and behaviorial changes.

Hypnotherapy is a tool for overcoming the fears and anxieties that stop us from leading full and productive lives.

Hypnotherapy is an induced state of relaxation. Some people just need to relax- for a variety of reasons, the calming peace of relaxation chronically eludes them. Relaxation is a therapeutic goal in and of itself.

For others, the guided relaxation of hypnotherapy provides a gateway to the memories, believed forgotten, that are negatively impacting our current lives. Hypnosis allows us to revisit painful events from a safe distance, providing accessing to memories without emotionally re-engaging or reliving traumas. As a hypnotherapist, I can guide your access to 'the forgotten' in a safe setting, helping to release the past's hold over the present.

Hypnotherapy can also be a tool to 're-program' thinking and behavior: It's a powerful mechanism for ending perpetual struggles with Weight Control, Smoking, and similar issues. Hypnosis provides an opportunity to 'try out' new thoughts and behaviors, creating new neural pathways to the thinking and behavior changes that will lead to accomplishing your goals.

Essentially, hypnosis is a process of guided visualization. The 'magic' of hypnosis is gently and easily accessing our Right Brains, where memory is stored. Eventually, you can program (or re-program) yourself to accomplish your goals.

Hypnotherapy Facts and Myths:

MYTH: A hypnotist has mysterious powers over others' minds.
FACT: A certified hypnotherapist is trained in how the mind works, and is skilled in inducing states of relaxation. Apart from this training, a hypnotherapist is an average professional- probably much like you!

MYTH: When under hypnposis, you're unconscious and oblivious to your surroundings.
FACT: The opposite is the truth! Many under hypnosis are actually hyper-aware, and always are aware of what they're doing, saying, or experiencing.

MYTH: Only the easily-conned succumb to hypnosis.
FACT:Most people can be hypnotized- some more readily than others. Very few people resist hypnosis when under the guidance of a skilled professional.

MYTH: Hypnotized people are at the mercy of the hypnotist, and will blindly do whatever they're told to do.
FACT: Since people are aware and conscious throughout a hypnosis session, they don't do anything they wouldn't do in a 'normal' waking state. The hypnotist does i not control other people- ever.

MYTH: Hypnosis is a 'quick fix'- it only takes a couple of session to be 'cured.'
FACT:Sometimes this is true. Usually, however, many sessions are necessary to attain lasting behavior changes.
